Week 17

May 27 - June 2, 2013

Not as fatigued but I DO have to take it easy much more often. Belly is growing and mostly wearing maternity clothes and dresses with belts for comfort. Busy weekend the week before really wore me out. Some smell aversions still bothering me. Strong food smells especially. Starting to feel little nudges much better. Bea’s mostly active in the evenings. We listen to her heartbeat which is becoming clearer and stronger on the Doppler without me having to max the volume or press too much into my abdomen. Still experiencing heartburn. Especially in the evenings.

Week 16

May 20 - 26, 2013

Still needing rest after busy days, but fatigue is not as bad. Nausea has gone away, but still not a big fan of some foods or smells just yet. Most food causing a slight heartburn.

Starting to feel tiny flutters in my abdomen. Still listening in on heartbeat.  Doctor appointment on Monday, May 20, 2013 for 16 week checkup and ultrasound. Baby was moving around a lot, had legs crossed and we had a little bit of trouble at first getting a good angle to determine gender.
Ultrasound tech finally got a good angle and asked Matt and I, “Are you ready?”
“Yes!”
“It’s a girl”
I think I said, “Oh Matt, it’s a girl!” and grabbed his arm/shoulder.
Matt grinned and said, “Nice job, Sweetie” and patted me on the arm.

Dr. came into room and said, “I have nothing but good news for you.” Talked to Dr. about the spotting and she said it sounded like I knew my triggers so I am not to lift anything heavy. Baby looked great, cervix looked great - I felt so blessed to have such a positive visit.

Dale was in town and came to the appointment and we called her in after finding out the gender so she could watch the remainder of the ultrasound. We saw a hand wave and after how active she was at first once we got the gender she decided to roll into a little ball and go to sleep. We got some 3D photos of her little face and we caught her sucking her thumb. In the 4D live version we watched her hands go to her mouth over and over. She looks JUST like her daddy already.

Name: Beatrice Cade Crockett

After the ultrasound Matt had to go back to work so I waited for the Doctor on my own, but took the time to call my Momma, Daddy, Aunt Andrea and Aunt Margaret to share the news: It’s a GIRL and THINK PINK! :-)
Response from Aunt Andrea: “She’s a thumbsucka!
All family was VERY excited.

Texted Heather, Jessica, Martin and Maggie. Matt texted Michael for me as I wasn’t sure I had his right cell number.

Dale called Ed in the waiting room.

Matt told ALL his coworkers at a meeting that day.

I went home after the Doctor appointment to upload my CD of photos onto my computer and I called my Grandma to share the baby news with her. She was very excited. Said, “I would have been excited either way.” and “A girl...that’s good...we like girls.

Bea received her first outfits that night from her Mimi. A bee onesie, a few newborn sleepers, a “Daddy’s Sweetie” onesie, and a couple others. She also received an AU bib and booties set earlier (given directly to Daddy by Mimi.)

Dale also brought a pink gift and a blue gift that we would open after we found out the gender. The pink gift was a cute pink and purple stuffed elephant rattle with ribbon tags.

5/20/2013
Telling family and friends the gender:
Sent to Heather and Jessica: <graphic lines of about 20 pink bows> heather, I forgot you can’t see the graphic. But imagine about 20 pink bows.

From Jessica Gonzalez:
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!
Woohoooooooooo
I am so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From Heather Campbell:
Yeah!!!!!!!!!! Little bea! congrats! I’m so excited!!!!! :-)
me: One of Matt’s first comments was now you and joe will have a boy and destiny will be fulfilled. Hahaha
Heather: Lol, I just said to Jessica that I have to have a boy now. :-)
So exciting!!
me: It’s amazing to actually call this little person by name. My heart bursts. I’ll send you a link to pictures when I get them downloaded.
Heather: Awe, I have tears in my eyes and there are students in my room otherwise I would jump up and down and cry. I’m so happy for the three (I mean 5) of you!!

From Aunt Tina:
Yay! Grandma just called SO excited! Congratulations!
me: She’s beautiful!! Thank you.
Aunt Tina: How can she be anything but beautiful! Name yet? So excited! I got a funny feeling grandmas gonna be doing some shopping. Lol. Already talking about it.
me: Beatrice Cade Crockett. Bea for short
Aunt Tina: Love it!

From Julie Corrance:
Oh, I was just this second thinking about you!!!! That is absolutely brilliant news. Love to you all. xxxxx

From Aunt Maggie:
Good luck today, ready to hear exciting news.
in response to picture: Omg so sweet!!!
How is Matt handling the news
me: he’s very excited. Said it was meant to be and has already insisted she be called Sweet Bea

From Jen Ordonez:
Hi. Manny just told me the good news. Congratulations! So happy for u guys!
me: Thank you!!
Jen: When is the due date?
me: November 4th
Jen: That’s so great. So happy for u guys :)
me: Thanks! We are walking on air right now.
Jen: I can’t even imagine! Well, take care of your self mamma and please don’t hesitate to ask if there’s anything we can do.

From Matt:
No more peanut. Only bee now. (with a graphic of a girl bee)
me: Hey daddy. I have heard a lot of compliments about you today and how you’ll be a great daddy for a daughter.
Matt: Really? Who flatters me so?
me: My mom, your mom and my grandma.
Matt: very cool

From Michael:
Awesome. If U need name suggestions I have plenty
Matt: I’m not accepting Chastity, Serenity, Jade, Asia, or Candy
Michael: There goes half my suggestions....how about Jasmine or Diamond? Diamond has potential. I like Diamond Jewel Crockett.
Matt: Righteous. Little Diamond Dallas Crockett (Martin’s idea)
me: hahahahah DDC!!!

From Martin:
Wow. A girl. I would not even know where to start. But that is awesome. Throwing a little variety into the family.

Me:
We'll def. have a Florence shower of some sort. Maybe even two since all my folks are in Colbert County. I will def. check out the place in the Kmart shopping center. Or at least send my mom there for some Grandma supplies.
We went in for the 16 week ultrasound yesterday and we're having a girl! Matt's very excited. She'll be Beatrice Cade Crockett, but of course we're already referring to her as Sweet Bea.
Thanks for your sweet messages! - Ash
Allison Terry Webb:
Can I tell you how much I love the name Beatrice?!?! It is adorable! YAY for a baby girl--you will have so much fun! As a side note, we call Palmer sweet p, but I am guessing we will need to end that soon since he's a boy and all....so I am glad there is a sweet bea out there. . I am seriously so excited for y'all! If you were closer, I'd offer to loan you our swing/bouncy seat/ etc, but it would be a kinda long trip! You guys are going to be great!
How are you feeling?

5/21/2013
Michael and Bethy came into town for a weeks stay.

5/23/2013
Had a gender reveal with cookies made by Kendall Jeffries at work. Ginny, Liz, Nkenji, Sandy, George, Shannon, Karol, Dr. Dorn, Teri, and Judi (and others) all gathered around my desk to bite into the cookie. There was pink in the middle. Sandy bought me pink “It’s A Girl” balloons to keep behind my desk and most of the other students/faculty found out from them. Drs. Zalaquett and Tan say hello to me AND Bea whenever they come in.

5/25/2013
We threw a big party for Memorial Day. Lots of folks saw Bea’s ultrasound photo, the nursery, and congratulated us on the pregnancy.

5/27/2013
Memorial Day - Spent in Orlando with Michael and Bethy. Saw The Great Gatsby, ate snacks at the Port Orleans hotel, lunch at the Irish Pub, ate dinner at the Polynesian Resort and watched fireworks from the Polynesian Resort beach. VERY long and tiring day, but, very fun.

Week 15

May 13 - 19, 2013

Headaches going away - Still stuffed up and nasal spray and neti pots help. Nausea def. diminishing. A few things still trigger a gross feeling (grilled chicken). Fatigue easily, but def. have more energy and can handle longer days. Went to Charleston, SC over weekend to help with planning Martin and Maggie’s wedding. Rested a lot on those busy days. Dale got to hear heartbeat with heartbeat monitor while in Charleston. Before we went to Charleston I was able to record the heartbeat for about 2 minutes and sent the clip to Momma, Daddy and Andrea. Had some spotting on Friday I believe was the result of lifting something too heavy. Spotting was very light. Rested that evening and was fine the rest of the weekend.

Allison Terry Webb:
Ashley Crockett! Do you have some news you want to share??? I just saw the mothers day pic you posted and now I demand to know what's going on! (yes, I am totally nosey and John would tell me I am being too mrs. Kravitz like, but you can't post a pic of a crib then not tell your friends!). Anyhow, share share share!

Me:
Yes!! Baby Crockett is due on November 4th! We are so so so excited!!! Matt actually posted that photo on Instagram on Saturday. He's so excited!

Allison Terry Webb:
Oh Ashley, I am beyond excited for y'all. Seriously, this just makes my heart explode with happiness. You guys will be such great parents. You will have a blast!
I was actually really hesitant to ask (my motto is NEVER ask anyone)....but I couldn't not ask since you posted a picture of a crib!
Are you going to find out boy or girl? If no one has told you yet, the best bargain store ever for baby stuff is in florence--bargain hunt in the kmart shopping center. Basically all of Palmer's stuff (stroller, carseat, swing, etc) is from there.

Are you going to have a Florence shower?
