Week 13
PHOTO OVERLOAD!
We carried Bea to Orlando on Friday since Matt had a work meeting there. She played with her elephant toy on the way. She puts ALL toys in her mouth now. Everything MUST be tasted.
I intended to do some outlet mall shopping, but it was pouring rain, so we went to the mall instead. She rode around in the stroller for a while and when she got fussy I let her ride in the baby carrier.
She loved being able to look around.
She and I picked up Matt after his meeting and headed back to Tampa.
Here she is at 13 weeks.
Absolutely gorgeous!
And that strawberry tint to her hair always amazes me! :-)
I had to get this photo of her huge hands. They're so chubby!
And those super long eyelashes.
Trying on her bathing suit and getting ready for the warm Florida spring.
It's actually been pretty chilly in Florida, so after we tried on the bathing suit I put some warm long johns on her. Long johns courtesy of Aunt Flossie and Uncle Robert.
Saturday morning with Daddy.
Bea turned 3 months old on Saturday, February 8th.
She's laying on the quilt made for her by Uncle Robert's momma - Mrs. Sherry.
I called in her Daddy during the photo shoot as reinforcements for getting a smile.
She loves her Daddy.
From left to right: One Month, Two Months, and Three Months.
Sweet Sleeping Princess
Playing with her other ball.
Watching the Winter Olympics.
Ice dancing specifically.
She loves sitting up and we can usually get a big grin this way.
Sunday we went to Upper Tampa Bay Park.
They have a mini aquarium in the visitor's center. She loved looking up at the top of the water through the aquarium and watching the water wave. I'm not sure she even noticed the huge fish swimming past her face.
Her Daddy showed her all the animals.
Even the scary ones.
Of course Bea is a champ and was unfazed.
We went to the playground at the park and Bea went swinging for the first time.
We *think* she liked it.
She went down the slide with Daddy, too.
Always wakes up with a smile on her face.
Kisses from Momma.
Monday we went to the park with Charlie and Caroline.
Charlie played in the fountain.
Bea watched from the stroller.
She had a blast.
I found these Alabama "A" stickers and tried one on Bea.
Roll Tide!
She's been enjoying her Johnny Jumper this week. She loves to play with that lady bug toy. It has a chime and she likes making it chime over and over. She also works pretty hard to get it into her mouth.
I had her laying on the couch and Wil was laying on the other side of the blanket. Bea stretched out her arms and felt Wil there. She kept reaching out toward him and was kind of petting him as she did. Wil was being very still and I petted him too and told him how good he was being. Bea kept touching him and he eventually rolled over for her to pet his belly. Cracked me up.
She's really started to notice the dogs this week. She follows them around the room, jumps when they bark, and generally seems to realize they live here too.
Bea's face when she found out Alabama was covered in snow.
We met Matt for lunch on Tuesday. We carried a picnic and walked around downtown.
Family picture! The Jose Gasparilla pirate ship was still parked in the downtown harbor.
Sweet baby smiles. That tongue is always poking out.
She gets that from me and from her Marmee.
I ordered her a Sophie the Giraffe chew toy. She really seems to enjoy it.
Helping Momma get her breakfast. She's also really enjoying this Bumbo chair.
The bib says it all.
Thursday Morning Nap.
Helping Momma cook dinner and chewing on Sophie.
Opening my Valentine's day present from Auntie Jessica.
She LOVED the tissue paper it was wrapped in.
She also loved the present itself. A sweet blanket.
Wil stepped right over and on top of Bea to get to this spot on my lap.
Bea started laughing when he did. I don't know if he tickled her when he stepped on her legs or if she just found him generally hilarious.
Rediscovering her piano toy she got for Christmas. At first she just stared at her reflection in the mirror. Then she cried when I laid her on the mat so I quit using it. Just this week I tried it again and she bats at the frog toy constantly. It's funny how she rediscovers old toys at different developmental stages. I guess I should try out some other toys she kinda got bored on, too.
New this week:
- Batting at the toys on the piano mat. She definitely uses her right hand to make that frog toy bounce around
- Sitting up for longer periods in the Bumbo. She sat in it for about 15 minutes the other day while I cooked in the kitchen. She chewed on her Sophie giraffe and was very content.
- Sitting up in the Johnny Jumper. She can move herself around in the jumper, chew on toys in the jumper and bounce in it. I love it because it fits our doorways perfectly and I can move her around with me as I do different things in the house. She'll play in it for a long time too.
- Watching her Classical Baby DVDs. I ordered her some Classical Baby DVDs from Amazon. They play classical music and have visuals to match. It's sort of like Fantasia, but shorter and more baby focused. She loved the first one. She kicked and talked through the whole thing. She smiled a lot during the "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" portion and made her opera loving dad proud when she smiled and kicked during the Puccini aria. She cried when the DVD ended. :-)
- Chewing on toys. For the past few weeks she has been all about blowing rasberries and bubbles. That has kinda changed this week. She prefers to chew on her hands or a toy and hasn't made as much mouth noise as she did before.
- First bite of solid food. I gave her about a teaspoon of apple sauce just to see what she thought. She took the spoon like a champ and ate the few bites I gave her really well. She had tasted some ice cream a few weeks ago and made a face, but we figured that was mainly because it was so cold. This applesauce seemed to be a hit. Her 4 month check up is next month so I'll ask the Dr. about introducing more solids then. For now we're sticking with the formula. But, Matt and I sometimes give her a tiny taste of what we're eating - especially when it's sweet.
- She's still sleeping like a champ at night. We put her to bed between 9:30 and 10:00 p.m. She wakes up around 7:00 - 7:30 a.m. One day this week I checked the monitor when we woke up and she was wide awake and smiling and kicking. She hadn't made a peep, though so I was surprised to see her awake. I still swaddle her at night to help her sleep as long as possible. She has a tendency to wave her hands around and wake herself up so the swaddle helps her be still and relax.
- Swung in a swing for the first time.
- Went down a slide for the first time.
- Saw fish in an aquarium for the first time.
She's such a great baby. A joy. A blessing.
