27 weeks

Currently: 27 weeks and 4 days
Left to go: 12 weeks and 3 days

Amazed to write that there are only 12 weeks left before we meet Sweet Bea. So exciting!

This is week 27.

I am now in the third trimester. This is very exciting too. The summer is ending, school is starting back, football season is around the corner and Bea will be here before we know it.

This weekend is a big weekend as we'll be flying up to Alabama for 2 baby showers on Saturday and a wedding shower for Maggie and Martin on Sunday. I'll also be doing some maternity photos with my wonderful photographer friend, Hannah Sumner. She did photos of Andrea's wedding and has done tons of photos of Gray and Reid. She's going to do some maternity shots of me and Matt and we're ordering a baby package of photos from her for Bea as well. So whenever we're home I'll just arrange a photoshoot with Hannah while we're in town and that's very exciting. Hannah is so talented and really captures great images of babies and kids.

Mommy's Feeling:
I'm feeling good. I have normal pregnancy complaints, but they're minor. My belly is growing fast and I'm feeling pressure in my pelvis, back and on my bladder as things move around to accommodate room for BB. The compression socks have done wonders for the swelling in my legs and feet. I ordered a second pair online and while I miss wearing sandals and skirts to work - (the compression socks are dark black and made for men) - I appreciate seeing normal feet and ankles even more. Right now I wear a lot of pants to work and I wear my black Converse Chuck Taylors as they are comfy, can be loosely tied and look cute with my pants. Probably not up to dress code at work, but they're not too strict on these things in the summer and I doubt I'd raise any eyebrows since they'd never notice my feet before they'd notice the belly that's starting to enter rooms seconds before I do.

This compression sock didn't work as well as the full sock. I'll be taking it back. You can see that my toes still swelled up that day. This doesn't happen with the full sock I wear with shoes.

My work feet.

I try to get up and walk around once an hour at work too just to stretch and feel less stiff. My work chair is not exactly ergonomic or comfortable so these stretches are much needed.

So again - I'm experiencing the basic pregnancy symptoms: heartburn, swelling feet, sore back, restless legs, and some fatigue. Pretty much par for the course as I'm figuring out from all the pregnancy books I've read.

In big news this week, I finally have a shelf for my afternoon snacks:

Bea's Feeling:
She continues to be active. I notice longer naps sometimes during the day. Matt can feel her practically all the time now and we can SEE her making little bumps on my belly when I'm sitting still. I can hear her heartbeat with the doppler very easily now when even just a few weeks ago I would have to move it around my belly to pinpoint her location. Nowadays shes very easy to find.

We finished up some work in her room so I took some photos yesterday to post here.

Curtains made by Marmee

Bookshelf from Ikea

Donald Duck art purchased online by Matt several years ago

South Pacific poster is from the show in NYC we saw in 2009

Big letter B from JoAnn's

Bedspread from Freds
(This was originally a yellow one I purchased before I moved to my dorm in Tuscaloosa back in 2001. I dyed it blue and it turned out turquoise which I love.)

Books in the bookshelf are ones we've collected from used book stores, thrift stores, book stores, etc. over the years in anticipation of our future kids.

Her Crib

Jenny Lind crib from Amazon

Circus tent canopy from Ikea
(I painted part of it pink on top to be more girly.)

Heart lights from Ikea.
(These won't stay on her crib. They're just hanging there until we decide where/how we want them hung on the wall. They'll be her nightlight and they're on a timer.)

Clown cross stitch by Marmee
(Also know this can't stay there forever, but we figure we have a few months that it can.)

Vintage IRMI mobile from Ebay

Quilt by Great Grandma Burns

Stuffed Broccoli from Ikea

Red Chevron crocheted blanket by Marmee

This pink chest will be her changing table.

Winnie the Pooh/Star Wars art by James Hance
(It's called Wookie the Chew - Adorable, but I don't see it on his website anymore)

Embroidered clown by Marmee

Cross Stiched Sampler by Great Grandma Burns

Cookie monster/Santa art by Matt
(He did this for an art class in college and gave it to me for our first Christmas in 2001. It hung in my dorm room and has hung in our house ever since.)

Walt Disney World Castle art by Matt
(He did this to surprise me with our honeymoon location.)

Photo on bottom right is of Matt's hands while playing the guitar. Probably a bit low for a baby's area, but it will work for a little while and the photo is not as irreplaceable as the art hung much higher.

Arrow shelf from HomeGoods.

Gator hat on shelf from her Uncle Rob and Aunt Andrea (but mainly Uncle Rob ;-) )

Daddy's Feeling:
I am feeling good. I am glad you (Ashley) are getting to have two nice showers and take photos. Those will be nice memories.

Matt giving me a hug and stretching his hand around for a photo.

Piggy bank for Bea painted by her Daddy in Mexico a few weeks ago. Sitting in her windowsill.
