Bea hit some fun milestones this week!
Friday afternoon we played "dress-up" with a dress Mimi got in Mexico and a flower in her hair.
My little spanish senorita.
We got supper Friday night at a neighborhood diner (with FANTASTIC pancakes).
Bea charmed the waitresses. Spent most of the night laying on the booth seat beside me and playing with her hands. I crack up when I look at this photo because she looks so chubby!
Playing on our bed on Saturday morning.
We FaceTimed with Daddy, Aunt Flossie and Uncle Robert. Andrea got this onesie for Bea while we were home over the Christmas holidays.
We drove up to New Port Richey because they have a Hobby Lobby and Daddy had promised Momma we could go. Bea was a great sport about it. She even FaceTimed with her Great Grandma while we were on the road.
In Hobby Lobby I put her on the baby seat they provide that's already attached to the carts.
She shopped til she dropped.
I did not buy either of these, but kinda wish I had....
Goofy girl laughing at me changing her diaper in the car.
Another one I made using the Rhonna design app on my iPhone.
Found this amazing little swim number at the thrift store.
I think she ROCKS it.
Wearing a dress Mimi with accessories hand made by Mimi.
She crocheted the booties, added the embroidered flowers and pearls to the belt and made matching bonnets and headbands. Bea wore this to church that Sunday.
So sweet.
Ready for a fun Sunday afternoon.
In the stroller for a run.
Smiling for a snuggly photo.
I made a ton of bows for her this week and she's been wearing them like a champ.
And looking incredibly cute while doing it.
Playing on the floor on her favorite quilt with her favorite toys.
A shot of the bows I made.
Tummy time
Flirty smiles.
Hanging out with Steve.
Here is where I'd add the video of her rolling over. The video is not currently working or uploading but I'll keep working on it.
She went from tummy to her back first. She was rolling over onto her side from her back to front really well while she was playing so we put her on her belly and cheered for her, shook toys, used a mirror to make her follow her reflection as we moved it over. Matt and I were both watching and cheering the first time she rolled from tummy to back. The second time I was able to catch it on video - which is what I'm trying to load. The video is pretty precious. She's obviously trying and just can't quite remember and figure out what to do. When she finally makes it over it happens pretty quickly and you can hear me cheering for her. The grin that comes over her face when she hears me say, "Yay Bea!" will melt your heart. She knew I was proud.
After a busy morning of rolling over we settled down for a nap.
She is a SUPER sweet snuggler.
Proud to be sitting like a big girl in the chair in her nursery.
Happy smiles after a nap in her crib.
Morning grins.
I sent this to Popi and Andrea with the caption: "Beezus in the morning"
Beezus at the noontime
(And post nap)
Helping Daddy with some video game fun during his lunch break.
Trying apples and deciding they're pretty good.
Beezus when the sun goes down.
Bea and I went out to eat with my friends Heather and Jessica. It was Bea's first Girl's Night and she did great. She got lots of attention from her Tampa Aunties and loved having someone else to talk to her and listen to her talk back.
She rolled over for the first time on 2/25/2014
She tried apples on 2/27/2014
First Girl's Night with Heather and Jessica on 2/27/2014
Out to eat at Carmel for Leticia's Birthday on 2/25/2014
She's getting really vocal. She likes to squeal and laugh and yell. She's definitely trying out her vocal chords and seeing what she can do. It's fun to hear her be so happy. If you didn't know you might think she was making fussy noises, but these squeals and raspberries are all happy baby sounds for us.
She's still sleeping well at night and I'm learning some tricks to ensure good naps during the day. She does a lot better if she starts out laying down with me. A few snuggles on the couch or on one of the beds and she's much more relaxed and inclined to sleep for a much longer nap - this is good as it means a happier baby when she's awake. I don't mind the snuggles one bit.
She's a bit of a Momma's girl. I know it's just a phase and while I hate she's a little fussy for Matt I love that she's so comforted by me. She relaxes when I hold her and rests her little head on my shoulder. She hides in my body when someone talks to her (thought she's smiling at them the entire time - she's just a bit of a flirt) .
On Left: Hiding her face from Daddy while she smiles/flirts with him.
On Right: Getting kisses from Momma and starting to learn how to give them herself.
She doesn't like for me to leave the room sometimes and the smile she gives me when I come in the room is amazing. She kicks and smiles when we get her out of the crib and she kicks and smiles sometimes when she knows I'm about to pick her up. I know all too soon I will be SUPER uncool so I relish this attachment.
Every night I rock her before I put her down in her crib and we sing a few lullabies. I tried to come up with some songs unique to me and Bea that we could sing every night. First we sing Brahm's lullaby, then Sing and Be Happy and then just as she's falling asleep I sing one of my favorite old standards:
The Way You Look Tonight
Someday when I'm awfully low
When the world is cold
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight
Oh, but your lovely
With your smile so warm and your cheek so soft
There is nothing for me, but to love you
Just the way you look tonight
With each word your tenderness grows
Tearing my fear apart
And that laugh, that wrinkles your nose
It touches my foolish heart
Lovely, never never change
Keep that breathless charm
Won't you please arrange it because I, I love you?
Just the way you look tonight
Just the way you look tonight
When the world is cold
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight
Oh, but your lovely
With your smile so warm and your cheek so soft
There is nothing for me, but to love you
Just the way you look tonight
With each word your tenderness grows
Tearing my fear apart
And that laugh, that wrinkles your nose
It touches my foolish heart
Lovely, never never change
Keep that breathless charm
Won't you please arrange it because I, I love you?
Just the way you look tonight
Just the way you look tonight
I know it's not a song that's really meant to be about a parent and a child but, it means a great deal to me. Like I said, I know someday she'll be a kid, a teenager, an adult and even a mother herself. And singing that song helps me make memories of this sweet baby and helps me log away in my brain the exact way she looks when she's cuddled up to me and her eyes are getting heavier and heavier. It's magical and lovely and if I could I'd stop time.
