Bea wore her hospital homecoming outfit sewn by her Marmee.
Easter evening relaxing at home.
She provided musical entertainment with her new piano we got for her at Walmart that afternoon.
Smiles for Daddy while wearing a dress he picked out for her.
BONUS BONNET PICS:
This bonnet came from Aunt Tina. It's actually a handkerchief she can keep and use in her wedding and then pass down to her daughter.
I need to edit more of these. She is, as Matt would say, TOTES ADORBS.
Bea had a wonderful first Easter. We dyed Easter eggs the night before. The Easter bunny brought her an inflatable tiger, an alligator bath toy, some suckers and a bunny toy. Popi gave her a super soft and squishy stuffed bunny.
We have a running joke in my family about Easter. My mom always made our dresses by hand and usually waited 'til the last minute to finalize the dresses. This was something she always did. I never thought twice about her staying up past midnight before Easter to finish a detail on her dress, or my dress or Andrea's dress. It was something every year. It was also not unusual for her to be continuing that work on Easter morning.
Well, I am proud to say I carried on that tradition.
My mom had made Bea's homecoming dress long, like a christening gown. When I found that the top parts still fit Bea I decided to take it in on the bottom to make it easier for her to wear. So the night before Easter I got out the iron and a needle and thread to do the hemming. I finished the dress and laid it over the end of my chair. There it would wait until the morning. I started to hang it up, but got lazy and figured what could hurt it overnight?
Funny I should think that.
Matt and I went to bed Saturday night and accidentally left Stevie and Wil out overnight. Steve decided to sleep on the end of my chair instead of staying in her house. RIGHT ON TOP of the heirloom dress my mom had made. OF COURSE.
I discovered the disheveled dress the next morning and had to clean off dog hair and use my tide pen to erase little spots of dirt from all over the dress.
To set the scene: Matt and I are both dressed and he's holding Bea just laughing at me. He knows my mom's Easter legacy and he's cracking up at me fulfilling it despite trying not to. So as I'm frantically scrubbing at the dress skirt with a tide pen and baby wipes - I have to laugh. I know my mom's getting a kick out of this, too. I am truly my mother's daughter.
We still got Bea dressed and ready for church in time to get there early for a family portrait. The church offered these for free on Easter morning.
Bea was to distracted by all the people to pay attention to the camera woman, but I love the photo anyways.
After church we had Robert, Mandi, Charlie and Caroline over for Easter brunch. Mandi made a delicious ham, Robert made biscuits and I made hashbrown casserole and fruit salad. The food was amazing and we really enjoyed the company and watching the kids play. Bea loves to watch Charlie run around and grins so big anytime he comes near. Charlie is great with the babies, too.
It was a perfect Easter and so special to share such a blessed day with our great blessing - our daughter.
