Bea's dad has been after me to catch up so, after an awesome first Mother's Day, I am up for the challenge.
Week 20
March 21-27, 2014
Morning snuggles with Momma in the rocking chair.
Morning smiles too.
Loving her excersaucer and her pink cowboy hat.
Gray picked this cowboy hat out for Bea as a present before she was even born. He selected it online the day we found out we were having a girl. I loved that she can wear it now and she looks incredibly adorable. My sweet cowgirl.
While playing in the floor she got so tired she feel asleep where she lay.
All 3 of my babies resting in the floor.
(Laundry piles make great puppy beds. Stevie and Wil approve.)
Lounging in an outfit first worn by Aunt Andrea at Typhoon Lagoon.
On Saturday, we took Bea to Typhoon Lagoon, a water park on the Disney property.
This was her second visit and she did GREAT. The first visit she seemed to enjoy the pool, but it was also pretty chilly and she wasn't sure about putting her feet on the bottom of the pool. (They have a pool with a "beach" like sloped entrance that gave us the perfect depth for her to sit or stand.) She just wasn't digging the place. Probably too cold.
This second visit went much better. First, we were able to get there earlier. Second, the water was warmer and the air was MUCH warmer - so she wasn't freezing. She was also a few weeks older and braver.
We took her to the children's area where there are lots of soft surfaces, waterfalls, tiny shallow pools and lots of other kid friendly spaces. She sat in the water supported by my lap and splashed and looked around. She was annoyed at her sunhat getting in her way of inspecting the place. I carried her around to let her see everything and she put her hand in a waterfall to feel the water. A Disney lifeguard even gave her a little toy rubber duck to play with and it immediately went in her mouth for chewing inspection.
She rode around the lazy river in my lap while I sat in an inner tube. Matt steered us away from the water sprayers and splashy kids. After some water playing we went back to our shady spot with our chairs and relaxed. We thought Bea would take a bottle and nap but she was having too much fun playing to nap. She kicked and talked while laying on the beach chair until it was time to leave. It was a wonderful sunny afternoon.
Mommy and Bea at Epcot.
That evening we went over to Epcot. Bea took a nice little nap in the car while we drove over from Typhoon Lagoon. Epcot had just started their spring Flower and Garden Festival. This is something Matt and I have enjoyed attending for years and it was very special to share it with Bea. We took her to the butterfly tent to see the butterflies. Matt snapped this photo outside the butterfly tent in front of one of the flower displays. She was having a blast looking around at all the colors and people.
Photo booth - March 2014
That night on our way back to the car we stopped for a quick family photo in a photo booth on the Disney Boardwalk.
I love photo booths and I always try to stop when I see one. It's 5 bucks very well spent. We make faces and I love the snapshot of my loved ones. Bea loves them too because she likes to see the baby in the monitor. Always gets a good smile out of her.
Bea and Daddy goofing off.
So many of our friends comment on how much Bea looks like Matt. They've been saying it since she was born. I even said she looked like Matt from the first ultrasound. That little turned up nose was obvious even when she was at 16 weeks gestation. After she was born, I kinda saw it, but the more I look at older photos of Bea the more it stands out to me. It's like I couldn't see it in that moment, but looking back at the photos I wonder how I missed it.
I love that she has his features. She has some of mine as well, but the one's like Matt really stand out, i.e. nose, ears. She has my eyes and eye color - a dark blue. Thankfully she got Matt's full eyelashes that make me jealous. We took this photo of them in matching headbands and it is probably one of my favorites. Love those two so so much.
