Bea's First Birthday Vacation

Bea's First Birthday Vacation

Date: November 6-10, 2014

Location: Smoky Mountains, Tennessee

When Matt and I started working on how and when to do Bea's birthday party we discussed a lot of options. A few party options didn't work out, so we decided to just plan a family vacation for the three of us to celebrate the special day.

We named Bea after one of our favorite places in the Smoky Mountain National Park, Cade's Cove. I couldn't think of a better way to introduce Bea to her namesake than by going on her birthday. We found a cabin, a flight and a rental car and we were set.

We left Tampa on Thurdsay and flew north to Knoxville, TN.

Checking out the view from the cabin on Friday morning.

Heading to Cade's Cove on Friday.

It was a gorgeous day.

On Bea's actual first birthday we woke up to cuddles and birthday songs on the Kindle.

First person to wish her Happy Birthday was her Uncle Robert.

FaceTiming with Andrea and Robert.

After a bottle and breakfast we opened up presents.

Bea got Elsa and Anna dolls.

She also got a baby Sven doll.

We drove up to Clingman's Dome to do the short hike to the top.

The view was gorgeous.

Bea got her first taste of snow.

And built her first snowman, with help from Dada.

That afternoon we relaxed at the cabin. Bea got a nap and Momma and Dada got some hot tub relaxation time.

That evening, Chris Morgan and his wife, Jennifer, and their son, Gresham came out to our cabin to eat some tasty burgers, watch football and celebrate Bea's birthday.

She and Gresham each got a cupcake.

We sang Happy Birthday.

And she LOVED the cupcake.

She and Gresham had a blast playing.

Sunday for lunch we went to Matt's Great Uncle Mike's for a cookout.

Bea had a great time with Mike and Peggy.

After lunch and playing we drove up the mountain again to get some sunset photos.

We headed back to Tampa on Monday morning. It was an excellent way to celebrate a wonderful year with our little girl.

Bea,
Keeping track of your year has been challenging and SO much fun. I hope you can see in this record how much fun your dad and I have had with you. You have helped us discover new things about each other and have helped us appreciate everything we see. You are a blessing and a very special little girl. I can tell already you have a loving heart, a spunky personality, a sharp mind and a charm that everyone around you seems to notice and respond to. Thanks for making us Momma and Dada. We waited a long time for you, but every second was worth it.

We love you so much.
Love,
Momma
